These free PCA courses are being sponsored by the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation. We are providing these opportunities for Coaches and Parents to ensure everyone has access to content that will allow for easier path to US Lacrosse Certification.

The PCA Parent content is being offered to provide unique information about ways Parents
can support their child, and also learn more about becoming a “Culture Keeper” on game days; aligning with US Lacrosse’s Sideline Manager program.

NFHS and Youth Rules Exams for 2019 – Now Available

    • In the “Annual Rules Exam” subfolder in the “Officials” category
      • Alternatively, just search 2019 in “Find a Course” and the exams will be available.
  • Two clicks to access
    • Click the blue “Enroll” button to order
    • Click the red “Launch button to start
  • Exam Instructions
    • Open-book, no time limit, and you must answer every question to receive a score.
    • You may take as many times as necessary to earn a passing score of 85% or higher.
    • Questions
      • NFHS – 50 questions; each question is worth 2 points.
      • Youth – 25 questions; each question is worth 4 points.
    • Read every question carefully, some may ask for more than one answer.
    • Click on one or more of the available answers, to record your answer click on the check mark icon in the lower right corner.
    • You get two (2) chances on each question.
    • If you get a question wrong, a rule reference will be provided so you may review.
    • You may close the exam and save your progress by clicking the blue “X” button in the top right corner, after launching the exam.

L2 Coaches Clinic

Tactically and practically focused.

Coaches will receive detailed instruction on building the tactical elements of their team based on overarching principles for offense, defense and transition. The Level 2 curriculum is geared toward coaching players who have an understanding of the basic skills and objectives of the game. Coaches will also learn how practice planning fits into overall tactical objectives for their season.

Coaches who hold a current Level 1 certification are eligible to progress to Level 2 certification, an exclusive credential that shows your dedication to being the best coach you can be.

Prerequisites.

  • Current USL Membership: Mandatory prior to clinic
  • NCSI Background Check:  Optional prior to clinic; Mandatory for certification
  • Online Courses available at learning.uslacrosse.orgStrongly Recommended Prior To Clinic; Mandatory for Certification
    • Level 2 online course

Details.

  • Check-in will begin onsite approximately 30 minutes prior to the clinic. We recommend arriving a few minutes early.
  • Lunch is included in Level 2 clinics. If you have dietary restrictions, please bring your own. You may also bring snacks to sustain you throughout the day.
  • Clinic-specific details, including the event address, can be found on your registration confirmation.
    • You would have received an email from cep@uslacrosse.org on the date you registered.
    • Other event-specific information, including parking instructions, weather-related information, and more will be emailed to you by your local host approximately 48 hours prior to the event. Please do not contact US Lacrosse for these details. Clinics are run locally.

Post clinic, you will see your clinic listed under “training history” in your account within one week. You will also be sent a link to a survey for feedback.

Marquette 5v5 Fright Fest

Marquette’s  5v5 Fright Fest is right around the corner! This year’s Fright Fest will be on Sunday October 28th and is open to 8th graders and up! You can expect lots of competition, costumes, tons of fun! In partnership with US Lacrosse Federation and Foundation (since summer 2014), PeppNation Sports Leadership Camps has been afforded the opportunity to promote and introduce the game (Lacrosse) to thousands of Milwaukee County youth and young adults.

Call for WLF Board Nominations

The Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation is looking for nominations for board positions.  The WLF Board is responsible for governing the US Lacrosse Chapter. 

This year the positions up for election are 

  • Vice President 
  • Treasurer
  • Girls Director – 1 year term 
  • Boys Director 
  • Officials –  1 year term
  • Coaches 
  • Communications/Marketing

Nomination process –   50% of board positions will continue to come up for election each year.    Anyone can be nominated for consideration by any Wisconsin based US Lacrosse member, including themselves.

Two new / combined positions will come up for election for a one-year term in 2018 and then a regular 2-year term in 2019.

Board elections –

  • Each WLF Member organization, as outlined in the WLF bylaws, will have one vote for electing WLF board members.
  • Current board members also have the right to vote in the election without registering.
  • Each individual person will only be allowed one vote, regardless of multiple program affiliations or registrations.
  • In the case no one has been nominated for a position, write in candidates will be considered. For a write in candidate to be elected, that person must have a minimum of 10 votes.  In the case no write-in candidate achieves the 10-vote threshold, each person receiving a write-in vote will be considered for the position by a vote of the WLF board at the next board meeting.

Wisconsin Lacrosse New Board Structure

The Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation has voted to restructure the governing board in order to create a slimlined, more responsive organization and clarify the nomination and election process.

“Over the past year the a WLF subcommittee has been involved in an analysis for the best method and structure to serve the current constituents of lacrosse in Wisconsin”, said  Erin Ennis, President of the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation. “This new construct will position Wisconsin Lacrosse for the support it requires for future growth and governance.”

Said Ennis, “The idea is to create a smaller board but engage those who want to be involved, not on a board level but perhaps on a committee or volunteer basis.  All of the new board members are encouraged to create committees to engage a larger, more involved state lacrosse community.”

US Lacrosse Announces Officials Coordinators

US Lacrosse announced the creation of the Boys’ and Girls’ State Officials Coordinators.

Randy Kohn is the new Boys’ Officials State Coordinator  and Jessica Ivory is the Girls’ Officials State Coordinator.

US Lacrosse Officials Development State Coordinators will serve as the primary liaison for Wisconsin in connection with US Lacrosse. They primarily assist with gathering and providing information, expertise, advice and support to the Local Officiating Organizations, Certified Trainers, Observers and Assignors in the state throughout the year. They will work with US Lacrosse staff and the Region Coordinator directly to help identify areas of strength, need and opportunity for officiating development throughout Wisconsin.
